California Proposition 65

California Proposition 65

California’s Proposition 65, also called the California State Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, was enacted in 1986. As part of the law, the state is required to publish a list of chemicals that are “known to the State of California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity.” This list now contains over 800 chemicals. The complete list can be found on the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) website: https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65

California’s Prop 65 requires all businesses to provide a “clear and reasonable warning” if one or more listed chemicals may be present in the product.
